Rainfall dips day temperature in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 7 :

Intermittent rainfall during the past 24 hours with overcast sky considerably brings down the day temperature in Kashmir valley on Friday.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecast fresh spell of hot & dry weather/heat wave from June 10 onwards in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT office said the weather will generally remain cloudy with possibility of light rain/thunder at scattered places during the next 24 hours.
However the weather generally will remain dry with possibility of light rain and thunder at isolated places can’t be ruled out from June 9 to June 17, it said.
Srinagar and its adjoining areas experienced intermittent rainfall during the past 24 hours bringing down the day temperature to below normal by several degrees forcing elderly people and tourists to wear warm clothes on Friday.
Rainfall dips day temperature
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature on Friday at21.6°C against the 23.5°C recorded the previous day and it was 6.3°C below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of season.
The minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday was also below normal by 1-5°C.
The other weather stations of the valley also received rainfall and recorded below normal day temperature ranging from 3-7°C on Friday.
The tourist spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded the maximum temperature at 20.4°C and it was 3.5°C below normal, while the Gulmarg had the maximum 11.2°C which was 7.4°C below normal for the famous ski resort of north Kashmir on Friday, the MeT office said.
Jammu recorded the maximum at 38.6°C and it was 1.1°C below normal, while Banihal recorded 27.8°C, Katra 34.6°C and Batote 28.3°C on Friday.
