JAMMU, January 27:
Former boxer and general secretary of the J&K Amateur Boxing Association, Rajan Sharma has been nominated as member of the ‘Talent Identification Zonal Committee for North Zone (Boxing) of the Khelo India Identification Program, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Now, Rajan along with other nominated members from four Northern Indian states shall look into various aspects of identification and then recommendation of the talented stuff to the Government following the laid down guidelines. The states and Union Territories to be covered by the nominated penal include J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Chandigarh.
“Identification of grass-root talent by using appropriate methods and non-competitions ensuring updation of data base on NSRS and create ranking of athletes will be the prime objective of the nominated penal,” informed Rajan Sharma, who retired as Divisional Officer of the J&K Sports Council.
