Rally on how to manage solid waste organized

JAMMU, FEB 28:
An awareness rally was taken out on the theme “Solid Waste Management” by the Environment Unit of MIER College of Education.
About 100 students from different departments of the college along with Dr. Monika Bajaj, Incharge, Environment Unit, MIER, Dr. Atul Thakur, and Dr. Bindu Dua, Assistant professors MIER College participated in the rally.
Rally was flagged off by Dr. N.R. Sharma, Dean Academics MIER and Dr. Annie Koul, H.O.D. B.Ed. accompanied by the faculty members of all the departments of the college.
It started from MIER Campus to K.C. Chowk to Indira Chowk to Jewel Chowk and culminated back at the college. Students carried banners, placards and posters highlighting information and issues regarding solid waste management.
They tried to spread awareness regarding solid waste management amongst the general public and interacted with the local business community and shoppers en-route. The strategies in managing solid waste such as segregation of biodegradable and non biodegradable waste, composting and use of municipal bins for disposing garbage were told to the general public.
The students participated in the campaign with great enthusiasm and zeal and contributed to the greater cause of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.
Dr Renu Gupta, Principal MIER College appreciated the efforts of the Environment Unit toward spreading the message of cleanliness all over the area.
