Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu organised a program commemorating the 130th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s iconic address at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893. The event, held at Bharatiya Siksha Kender School.
Domana aimed to inspire students, faculty, and the community with the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s message.On September 11, 1893, Swami Vivekananda delivered a ground-breaking speech at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago, leaving an indelible mark on the world.
One hundred and thirty years later, his message of universal acceptance, tolerance, and the importance of spiritual growth continues to resonate with global significance.
On this occasion students of Bharatiya Shiksha Kender sang devotional songs and gave speeches on Swamiji’s historic lecture.Swami Yajnadharananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission focused on timeless values Swami Vivekananda gave. He said “Swami Viveka nanda’s address emphasized the need for harmony among diverse cultures and faiths, urging listeners to embrace the beauty of differences while recognizing the underlying unity of all existence.
His words, “I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance,” ring truer today than ever.
”Sandhya Pathaniya, principal of the school said, “In an era marked by divisions, conflicts, and social unrest, Swami Vivekananda’s wisdom offers a beacon of hope. His teachings encourage individuals to look beyond superficial differences and strive for a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
”The program ended by the devotional song on Swami Vivekananda.As we commemorate the anniversary of this historic event, we honor Swami Vivekananda’s legacy and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a more inclusive, compassionate, and peaceful world.
