JAMMU, MAY 27:
National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Sunday sought 70 per cent reservation in the central government establishments and public sector undertakings functioning in Jammu and Kashmir, keeping in view the burgeoning unemployment problem in the State.
Addressing workers here this afternoon, the Provincial President said state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir should get adequate openings in the central government departments, banks, railways, para-military and defence forces and a specified quota needs to be allocated for educated unemployed besides skilled and unskilled work-force.
Mr Rana said this is imperative in view of limited opportunities in the State government departments and almost zero corporate sector due to lack of industries and big business houses.
The unemployment, he said, has sapped the morale and confidence of the youth, who are unable to support their families and contribute in nation building.
“As a special dispensation, the Centre should take a policy decision with regard to reservation in central jobs together with relaxation in age in respect of the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said, adding that the measure will go a long way in offsetting the unemployment problem in the State.
Earlier, Mr Rana provided 200 Solar LED High Mast lights, involving a cost of Rs 35 lakhs to temples, mosques, gurdwaras and churches of the Nagrota Block. The other blocks of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency would be covered under the scheme in the second phase.
He also raised the issue of the forest fire in Jandrah and Ban with the authorities.
