A book -release function was organized by Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, J&K Branch for the release of Shringara Lahiri-a book authored by Prof.Rriyatama Chander Shastri ,renowned Sanskrit scholar of the state and former Principal ,Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan ,Shri Ranbir Campus ,Jammu at press club, Jammu on Sept 21,2018.Dr,”Nirmal” Vinod ,former HOD Hindi,Rashtriya Sansthan ,Shri Ranbir Campus ,Jammu and famous poet was the chief guest on the occasion ,while Prof .Ram Partap Vedalankar ,former HoD .Sanskrit Jammu university and the founder of Chamtkar school was the special guest .The function was presided over by Padma Shri Prof.Ved Kumar Ghai, former Head of the department of Sanskrit university of Jammu.
In the function ,detail f the personality and contribution of Prof .Priyatama Chandre Shastri were highlighted .Prof .Shastri is a well-known scholar of Jammu. He has published a number of books in Sanskrit ,prominent among those is his Jammu Shatakam. In Hindi, he has been publishing articles and poems since 1971.Among these ,his poem, published in Shiraza,describing the beauty of Jammu and surrounding areas is worth mentioning Prof .Shastri was born in Khairi village of jammu and was brought up in Jammu city. He was educated at Shri Raghunath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya Jammu and sampurnanand Sanskrit university, Varanasi. He has been a student of the famous Sanskrit scholars pandit Kaka Ram shastri from Jammu and padma Vibhushan pandit Pattabhiram Shastri from Varanasi.
The present book, Shringara Lahiri, released during today’s function is a collection of the poems and Ghazals written by him during his youth. The first poem is entitled the moon is the face ,has been read and appreciated in the presence of senior writes of hindi,dogri,Punjabi and urdu ,including Shankar pipasu,O.Manav ,Prof .Subhash Bhardwaj,Mohan Lal Sapolia ,Roshan Lal Betab ,Rahabar Jadeed,surinder sajid ,Nirmal Vinod,Sham Talib,Pripal Singh Betab etc.This poem has also been broadcast from Akashvani and Doordarshan .It has also been read before the famous Hindi Ghazal writer of India ,Dushyant Kumar. There are 25 poems in the present collection, which include 17 poems,5 songs and 3 Ghazals .All the poems are romantic in nature with aham ahmika and have been dedicated to his wife, late Lalita Sharma.
