JAMMU, June 20:
Most of the branches under the aegis of Guru Ravidass Sabha’s spread across Jammu division today launched a massive protest against the demolition drive of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) who on the pretext of some court order has made an unsuccessful attempt on 19th June 2019 to demolish 15th Century Guru Ravidass Mandir, the land for which was donated by the than ruler of Delhi Sikander Lodhi to Ravidassia Samaj. The mandir complex has both archeological and monumental value in addition to extreme faith of Crores of Ravidassia Samaj spread all over India including that of Jammu & Kashmir.
Ravidassia Samaj of Jammu & Kashmir having population of about 04 lacs not only strongly condemn the anti SC and anti religious action of attempting demolition of the ancient temple of Guru Ravidass ji Maharaj but we also request the Governors administration to convey strong resentment of the J&K Ravidassia Samaj to the union government. We request the Union Government as well as DDA Officers/officials not to attempt any further demolition drive otherwise Ravidassia Samaj from all over world and J&K shall keep no stones unturned to safeguard this religious and historical monument where faith of crores of Ravidassia biradri is attached.
The participants further condemned the anti SC attitude of the government by quoting that maximum mandirs in the country are erected on the Govt. lands and furthermore if Temple at Ayodhya belongs to Ram then why not temple situated at Tuglakabad can belong to Guru Ravidass ji Maharaj whose revenue documents indicates that the site spreading over 13 acres had been entered in the name of Ravidass Mandir. Furthermore, Babu Jagjeevan Ram the then union minister in 1960 had inaugurated the temple and handed over the requisite record to the Mandir committee that is still in possession of the present Mandir committee. It is once again reiterated by the agitating Biradri members that any misadventure in this regard by the DDA or Central government shall have lasting socio-religious and political repercussion all over India.
