Srinagar, Dec 12
Real Kashmir FC trounced Shillong Lajong FC 6-1 in their last I-League contest of the year here today. The home side, popularly known as Snow Leopards, jumped to the third spot on the points table with 13 points by registering their third straight win at the packed TRC turf ground.
The hosts scored the first goal in the 25th minute when G Krizo dodged three defenders before passing the ball to Abednego Tetteh, who tapped it into the net. The visitors, though, took just three minutes to equalise — goalkeeper Bilal Khan’s clearance ricocheted off Samuel Kynshi into the net.
However, the lucky goal turned out to be the only moment of joy for Lajong as Snow Leopards dominated the match thereafter. A corner kick from Surchandra Singh was headed in by Mason Robertson in the 38th minute, giving the lead back to Real Kashmir. In the 43rd minute, Nagen Tamang scored off a pass from Tetteh.
Eight minutes later, Krizo made it 4-1 for the hosts. The fifth goal came in the 75th minute from Surchandra Singh and the last was scored by Tetteh in the 83rd minute. Tamang was adjudged Hero of the match. The Real Kashmir fans will now have to wait for more than a month to see their team play on home turf. The next home game, against Chennai, is scheduled for January 28.
“We played well, changes worked and we went according to the game plan. The away matches are going to be difficult but we hope to play good football,” said Kashmir FC coach David Robertson.
