The Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the NSS units of GGM Science College, organized an AIDS awareness lecture and elocution competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of students. The event aimed to promote awareness about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and the importance of reducing associated stigma. The program began with an address by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, who emphasized the critical role of such initiatives in educating students about public health issues and fostering a sense of responsibility towards society. Dr. Jyoti Heer, Senior Resident, Pathology Department, GMC Udhampur, served as the resource person for the lecture. She provided comprehensive insights into the medical aspects of HIV/AIDS, highlighting preventive measures, the importance of early diagnosis, and treatment protocols. The elocution competition that followed showcased the oratory skills of students. Nitesh Choudhary secured the first prize, Sumeet Kumar earned second place, and Merryleen Kour claimed the third prize. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. P.S. Thakur, Dr. Bhekampal Singh, Prof. Sunita Kumari, Dr. Arti Sharma, and NSS Programme Officers Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma. Esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Yasmeen Mughal, Associate Professor, Department of English; Dr. Anita Sharma, HoD, Hindi; adjudged the elocution competition and Dr. Arti Heer, were also present to support and motivate the participants.
