Apni Party General Secretary Vikram Malhotra today urged Jammu Municipal Corporation to regularize sanitization workers who keep the city clean. In a statement to the press, Vikram Malhotra said that it was unfortunate on the part of the authorities in JMC for ignoring the genuine demands of the sanitization workers. “The sanitization workers keep our city clean, but they themselves live a miserable life because of ignorance of the Corporation,” said Malhotra and further added that the JMC should frame a comprehensive regularization policy for these people and their health checkup should be made mandatory. He said that these sanitization workers keep the residential areas, markets and public places clean while there is no guarantee to their jobs.
“The corrupt officials are stumbling blocks in the way of regularization and they are behind the exploitation of the sanitization workers,” he said.
He said that Smart City is only possible when the city is clean. “However, without these workers, it is not possible. Therefore, the Corporation should regularize them,” he added.
