‘Relevance of Mathematics in today’s era’ a One Day Students Conference in Mathematics was organized in Government P.G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The conference was declared open by the chief guest Prof. Koushal Smotra, principal of the college.
Resource persons in the conference were Dr. Bhopinder Singh, Dean School of Engineering and Technology, Cluster University of Jammu; Prof. Shobha Gupta HOD Mathematics, MAM College and Dr. Sunil Gupta HOD Mathematics, GGM Science College experienced faculty members in the field of Mathematics.
Participating students through PPTs/ Oral presentations threw light on the relevance of Mathematics in today’s world.
The deliberations of the conference conveyed that Mathematics is a synchronized application of matter which makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. Many of our inherited human qualities are nurtured and developed by various Mathematical theories and their applications. Also the things that we wouldn’t expect to bear any relation to Mathematics do in fact come down to an underlying need for mathematics and the structure it brings to our everyday lives.
In the valedictory function prizes were awarded to the winners. The programme was attended by senior faculty members of the college besides a large number of students.
Organizing secretary of the conference was Dr. Meeru Abrol, HOD Mathematics.
Ivanka Raman and Aarya Bargotra conducted the proceedings of the conference. Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Anita Sharma.
