J&K National Conference (JKNC) Additional General Secretary and Former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today launched a scathing attack on the BJP led Centre Government for unleashing a series of anti-people measures in Jammu Kashmir which have made the lives of its residents miserable.
Sadhotra said this while addressing a public meeting at Tali Morh area in Janipur under Jammu North Constituency. He was the chief guest on the occasion whereas President, JKNC Central Zone (Jammu, Samba & Kathua) and former Minister, Babu Rampaul presided over; and JKNC Provincial Joint Secretary, Ankush Abrol was the guest of honor. Raghuvir Singh Manhas, Jammu District President Rural-A, also graced the occasion. The Public meeting was organized by Dr. Vikas Sharma, Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Urban) and Rajinder Kumar.
Sadhotra lambasted the BJP’s govt at Centre for its utter failure in addressing the grievances of people in J&K and said, “there is widespread resentment against the UT government due to hike in charges of electricity, water; and imposition of property tax. People are already leading a miserable live due to unemployment and inflation but, instead of giving them relief, the government here is hiking the charges and extracting more and more money out of peoples’ pockets.”
He assured the gathering that the NC government will definitely cut down those charges and abolish the property tax so as to ease the life of the public.
Sadhotra also flayed the UT Government for stopping the widow pension and making the process of re-registration very cumbersome owing to which poor widows were facing many hardships and running from pillar to post to get the pension.
He also raised finger on the intentions of the Centre Government vis-a-vis holding of Assembly elections in J&K. “BJP government at Centre must keep its words and should not shy from elections in J&K.
But, the announcement of polls must be preceded by restoration of full statehood to J&K otherwise, the polls will be of no use to its people,” Sadhotra said.
Also addressing, Babu Rampaul said that NC always stood with the people of J&K and would continue to do so. “Centre must respect the sentiments of J&K people and restore their dignity by granting full statehood to J&K as was before August 2019,” he said.
He mentioned that people were facing enormous hardships due to ambiguous policies of the Government and there was a strong need to redress their grievances. “Only the NC government can mitigate the sufferings of people because it had the track record of doing so. I urge the people to extend their full support to NC in the forthcoming Assembly polls and get rid of the autocratic rule of the present dispensation,” Rampaul added.

In his address, Ankush Abrol highlighted the plight of unemployed youth and sought employment packages for them. He also called for financial assistance/stipend to unemployed youth till they get a job or establish their business.

Dr Vikas Sharma urged the youth to turn themselves into agents of political change and strengthen the hands of NC top leadership so that the party could come to power and redress their issues.

Adv Rajinder Chanyal Zonal Vice-President and Bharat Bhushan Zonal Secretary, also spoke on the occasion.

Others who attended the meeting were Rahul Mahajan Zonal Vice-President, Hemraj Zonal Joint Secretary, Prof. Harbans Lal, Arun Pal Singh Working President NCSU, Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Charan Dass, Gulshan Kumar, Kewal Bhagat, Karan Singh, Shamsher Singh, Deep Kumar, Raj Kumar, Mohan Lal, Ajeet Kumar and others.
