Actor-model Rhea Chakraborty has shared her experience of being in jail following her arrest by the NCB in a drug-related case. Reflecting on that challenging period, Rhea Chakraborty discussed the crucial role her friends played in helping her cope. She recalled how they supported her parents while she and her brother were lodged in Byculla jail.Speaking on Karishma Mehta’s podcast, Rhea Chakraborty recalled the surprising moment when, after her release from jail, she noticed that her parents and friends had gained weight during her time inside. Inquisitive about the reason, she asked them, only to find out that her friends had regularly visited her parents, sharing meals and drinks with them every night. She humorously remarked ‘Kameeno, main waha jail mein thi aur tumlog yaha khana khaa rahe ho, weight put on kar rahe ho’ (I was in jail and you were eating food and putting on weight). Her friends explained that they were just trying to help her parents feel a bit more normal during that difficult time. Rhea was touched by their efforts. For the unversed, Rhea Chakraborty was the girlfriend of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. Following his death, Sushant’s parents filed a case against Rhea, accusing her of abetment to suicide. Later, in September 2020, she was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug-related case that emerged during the investigation into Sushant’s death.
