JAMMU, Nov 13:
Young Ritvik Gupta dominated in the Jammu District Table Tennis Championship taking away both Men and Youth Singles titles decided at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
For the men’s title, Ritvik defeated equally good Hanumat Sharma 3-1. In the semifinals, Ritvik outplayed many time State champion, Dheeraj Arora (RBI) of Punjab, who has lost his form and confidence. In other semifinal, Hanumat blanked Ketan 3-0.
In the Youth singles final, Ritvik trounced Anuj in straight sets 3-0 to make it a double title win.
The women’s singles title went to Surnhi, who beat young Iknoor 3-2 in a closely contest final.
In the finals and valedictory function, Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ashok Khajuria was chief guest, who gave away the prizes. Speaking to the gathering of players, their parents and special invitees, Khajuria announced funds for the renovation of the Table Tennis Hall at MA Stadium which is in need of immediate repairs.
Prominent among others present were Abdul Quyoom (Chief Sports Officer), Ravi Singh (Divisional Sports Officer), Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Manmeet Kour, Sheetal Gandotra, Sanjeev Gupta and Vikas Magotra.
Matches officiated by the technical penal including Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Meenu Rajesh, Asad Sharma, Manandeep Singh, Ritvik Gupta, Ketan and Anuj.
