Three persons, including a woman, were today killed and six others injured when a car ploughed into a group of pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh before hitting their parked bus alongside a highway in Jammu, police said.
The bus, on its way to the Vaishno Devi shrine, developed some technical snag and was being attended by its driver and a mechanic on the roadside near Sidhrah highway here when a speedy car allegedly skidded off the road and hit the pilgrims before crashing with the rear side of the vehicle, a police official said.
Some pilgrims were waiting outside the vehicle when the incident took place, he said.
He said two pilgrims Ramesh Chander (55) and Hira Lal (73) – and a local woman identified as Sita Devi (55) of Reasi district travelling in the car died on the spot, while six others were injured and were shifted to Government
Road Accident. . . . .
Medical College hospital for treatment.
The injured included driver of the car and his two sons, he said, adding their condition was stated to be “serious”.
