BJP delegation led by BJP State Incharge IT & Social Media Sh. Jaidev Rajwal today met with Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department Dr. Er. Sanjeev K Chadha at his office in BC Road, Jammu. Irregular supply of potable water to the masses of Jammu city in rainy season and non-availability of generators or special electric line to lift water during power cuts, replacement of 60 years old water supply pipes was the main subject of meeting that has irked Jammuites at its peak. Rajwal emphasized to give respite to taxpayers who are left to suffer by denying very basic amenity at their doorsteps.
On the directions of MP Jugal Kishore Sharma the proposed meeting was arranged in which detailed discussions were held on 2 key issues due to which the common populaces of Jammu city suffer badly. Rajwal apprised Chief Engineer about water scarcity that creates absolute chaos due to technical reasons better known to the department.
“Common public of Jammu city keeps on suffering due to no water supply especially in rainy season. Whenever there is rainfall, the water supply is snapped for next 3 to 4 days and, now it has become a trend and routine of all the time”, he added.
Sh. Rajwal was surprised to know about deteriorating situation of water pipes that have not been replaced for such a long time. He further said that there is utmost need of replacing 60 years old water supply pipes across Jammu City and the work must be carried out at war level as it is the question of health of people.
It is evident most of the diseases are water borne and it turns into epidemic during rainy season, particularly children fall prey of it.
“People are forced to get unsafe and unhygienic water that can be proved quite harmful. The promise of providing safe potable water to people must be kept on top priority. Department must ensure immediate replacement of old pipes with new ones”, Rajwal stated.
During discussion with CE, BJP delegation came to know about funding process.
Central funds are not allocated for urban areas, as all Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) received by Rural areas, therefore department faces scarcity of funds in urban areas. Sh. Rajwal told CE that he will take up this matter to central government to ensure sufficient flow of funds as funds can’t be constraint in providing basic amenities to people.
Sh. Rajwal further asked CE to look into the matter and take necessary action so that the common people of Jammu city can have regular supply of water in all weather. Er. Chadha carefully listened to the grievances and ensured early disposal of the same. He informed the delegation that talks are underway with Power Development Department (PDD) to establish Special electric lines at pumping stations as early as possible.
He immediately called Superintending Engineer Mechanical and Civil Division to make blueprint to overcome the issue forever. Technical Officer (TO) to CE informed the delegation of technical problems department faces during rainy season. Sh. Rajwal emphasized to install transformers or special electric lines at the all the tube wells and pumping station. Others who accompanied the delegation were Anoop Kotwal, Smt. Anju Dogra, MK Razdan, Narayan Sharma and Yudhvir Singh.
