Shaheed Maj Rohit Sharma T20 cricket tournament drew close today with Rufi Club, Poonch crowned as the Champions. The fortnight long tournament was open to cricket clubs of Poonch district and was played as an under-19 event. The matches were based on league cum knockout basis. The final match was played by Rufi Club and Stadium XI teams amidst cheers of a large number of spectators. Cricket is one of the most loved sports in the region. Army in coordination with Shaheed Maj Rohit Sharma, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) NGO had organised the tournament to provide a platform to the young cricketers to display their sporting skills. The tournament was conducted in the memory of Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma who made supreme sacrifice in line of duty while fighting militants in area of Mandi, Poonch.
