An interactive meet, involving college and university representatives, on industrial collaboration and digital initiatives in Higher Education was today organized by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), here as a part of its ongoing initiative, ‘Digital transformation against conventional teaching’.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof Manoj Dhar; Vice Chancellor, SMVD University, Prof R K Sinha; Secretary, Higher Education, Talat Parvez; Director Colleges, Dr. Yasin Ahmad Shah; Director RUSA, R K Bhat; Territory Channel Manager Microsoft, Ryna Tak; representatives from Fulcrum Digital and Theseus Global Ltd based in England, besides representatives from various universities and colleges of J&K. Secretary, Higher Education, Talat Parvez apprised the representatives of the Universities and Colleges about the intent of the department to create a digital platform for teaching – learning process and capacity building of the students and the teachers. The Secretary asked the representatives of the universities and colleges to take steps for introducing digital initiatives in education system. “It is a new initiative, which will make education skill oriented and enhance proficiency in the teaching – learning process “he added.
The international delegation in collaboration with Microsoft Ltd. gave a detailed power point presentation on the modalities regarding different digital delivery mechanisms for their coaching programmes, designed for enhancing skills and improving employability of the college and university pass outs in Jammu and Kashmir. Later, a threadbare discussions was held on the proposed programme followed by queries by the representative of the institutions related to the Microsoft running courses, coaching and counselling.
