Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today demanded regular clean drinking water supply in drought hit Kandi belt amid the severely heat wave affected areas in Parmandal in Samba District.
A meeting was organized by the Party leaders at Gurgani village in Parmandal to discuss the problems being faced by the people of Kandi belt.
The people informed the Former Minister that the concerned department of Jal Shakti has failed to ensure supply of clean drinking water in the above said village, and other areas falling in Kandi belt.
While speaking on the occasion, S. Manjit Singh assured them that he would highlight their concern before the Jal Shakti Department.
He, however, expressed deep concern over the inhuman attitude of the concerned authorities for their inability to supply drinking tap water to the people in Kandi belt, especially when the region is facing dry spell amid heat wave that has put normal life out of gear.
He said that the Kandi belt is suffering because of the irregular drinking water supply and the supply often takes over after over a week that leads to more problems.
Similarly, the people in Kandi belt are affected due to the unscheduled power cuts and it also affects the drinking water supply.
“The people have no source of water in Kandi, and therefore, the Govt should come out with a policy to frame a policy to ensure 24/7 drinking water to the people in Kandi villages,” he said while urging for long term policy to deal with the issue.
Meanwhile, S. Manjit Singh also visited the Madana village and met the family members of the victims who were wounded in the explosion of a mine-blast to know about the well-being of their injured kins.
