Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandgi, while enthralling the Sangat with his satsang in Ranjadi today on the occasion of Purnima, said that nowadays there are many Gurus in the path of devotion. Because money is easily available. That’s why Sahib has also told the characteristics of the Guru. When Dharamdas ji asked Sahib about the characteristics of a Guru, Sahib said that first test the Guru and then take initiation.
First-Guru should be a Sanyasi. The householder should not be a guru. Because he himself is trapped in illusion, so what will he do for your welfare? Second – it should be free from restrictions. Sahib is saying that if one finds a true Guru then all the quarrels end.
There is nothing left to attain salvation. Third: Guru should be comprehensive. Eat from your earnings. Fourth – Be a supplicant. Don’t take alms. There are three types of alms. Manas, Rajas and Tamas.
Nowadays there is looting. Mental begging is that wish from the heart that so and so should give me something.
The one who wants something from you cannot give you anything. The second alms is Rajas. Some say that we have opened a cowshed, give money. This is rajasic alms. Persuading someone to donate is rajasic alms.
The third is tamasic alms. I will do this work for you, give me the money. A true Guru does not take any kind of alms. He moves only by Akashvritti i.e. whatever comes on its own.
Being unrestricted means that whatever money comes to him, he should not give it to anyone in his family. If he is taking the money of the poor and investing it in his family, then Sahib said that he will go to hell along with his generation. Will not go alone. Because this is a big sin. The only person worthy of donation is the Guru. But the teacher must be truthful.
