JAMMU, Jan 25:
International Volleyball player, Saqlain Tariq of Poonch, Everester, Nirmal Kumar of Doda, Rythmic Gymnast, Bavleen Kour and Fencer Shreya Gupta among 13 outstanding sportsperons of the State today nominated for the State Sports Awards by the State Government on the eve of Republic Day.
Besides individual achievers across different recognised and unrecognised games, the Women’s Ice Hockey team of Leh was selected for the State’s top sports awards.
The awardees, as per an order issued in this regard today shall get Rs 51,000 cash award, medal and citation.
Other awardees are Danish Farooq, presently part of the Real Kashmir football club playing in the I-League; Rasik Salam (Cricket), Bilal Ahmed Dar (Cycling), Jasia Akhter (Cricket), Ummar Ashraf (Deaf Cricket), Hiteshwar Singh (Rollball), Faheem Fayaz (Pencak Silat) and Chandeep Singh (Para Sports).
