Former Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori visited the fire-stricken area of Mulwarwan in Warwan, District Kishtwar, and met with families who lost their homes and belongings in a devastating fire incident. During his visit, Saroori listened to the grievances and hardships faced by the victims, who are currently living under the open sky, having lost everything they owned, including their homes, ration supplies, and clothing. Saroori expressed deep concern about the situation, especially with the onset of the harsh winter season fast approaching. He emphasized the urgent need for immediate government intervention to provide shelter and basic necessities for the affected families. “These people are poor and have lost everything in the fire. The government must come forward to rescue them and ensure their swift rehabilitation before the winter cold sets in,” Saroori remarked. Saroori has made a strong appeal to the government to provide a comprehensive relief package for the affected families. He demanded:
Compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each affected family to help them rebuild their lives. A government job for at least one member of each affected family, ensuring a sustainable source of income. Immediate rehabilitation measures, including temporary shelter, ration, clothing, and other basic supplies, to provide relief from the harsh conditions under which the families are currently living.
Saroori highlighted the urgency of the situation, urging the authorities to act quickly and decisively. He expressed hope that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who had visited the area the previous day, would follow through on his commitments to support the victims. “I am hopeful that the Chief Minister will take practical steps without delay to rehabilitate the fire victims. These families need immediate assistance, and their plight must not be ignored,” he stated.
During his visit, Saroori met with each of the affected families, offering his condolences and solidarity. He assured them of his continued support and commitment to raising their concerns with the relevant authorities. “I am always available for the public and committed to highlighting their plight. We will not rest until these families receive the help they desperately need,” Saroori said.
The fire incident in Mulwarwan has left the community devastated, with homes reduced to ashes and families struggling to survive in dire conditions. With the winter season just around the corner, the need for prompt government action is more critical than ever.
