Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, met with the Jammu and Kashmir Senior Men’s Football Team on their return to Jammu after a stellar performance in the first round of the 78th Santosh Trophy.
During the interaction, the Minister lauded the team’s historic victory against formidable opponents like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, commending their skill, dedication and teamwork.“It is gladdening to see our athletes bringing glory to Jammu and Kashmir by defeating top teams. This success showcases the immense sports talent in the region,” he said.
The Minister assured the players that the government is committed to provide every possible support for their further participation in the final round of the prestigious competition, including world-class training facilities, technical expertise and other necessary resources.Satish Sharma also expressed confidence in the team’s ability to continue performing at the highest level in the upcoming final rounds of the tournament.The team was applauded for their exemplary efforts by the Minister, who also recognised the contribution of the coaching and technical staff. “The athletes and technical staff have made us all proud with their hard work and achievements. Their success is a testament to the power of perseverance and collective effort,” he remarked.The felicitation ceremony was attended by Director General, Youth Services and Sports Rajinder Singh Tara, Secretary, J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul, Chief Sports Officer, and Chief Accounts Officer, J&K Sports Council.The J&K Sports Council, which played a crucial role in organizing rigorous training camps and ensuring comprehensive support for the team, was also commended by the Minister for their efforts in elevating sports in the region.The interactive session concluded with a renewed commitment from the administration to strengthen sports infrastructure and encourage young talent across Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for sustained excellence in the national and international arena.
