PATNA, JUNE 28,
The Jharkhand police on Wednesday launched a search operation to rescue three policemen, deputed as security men at the residence of Khunti BJP MP Karia Munda, who were abducted allegedly by tribals on Tuesday.
The police said the abductors were supporters of ‘Pathalgadi,’ an anti-establishment, self-rule movement gathering steam in hundreds of villages of the State. Khunti district, 40 km from capital Ranchi, is worst affected by the Pathalgadi movement.
The tribal-dominated Khunti district turned into a battle ground with security forces launching a massive search operation in which one villager is said to have died, while several others were injured.
The police said the villagers had gathered at Khatanga-Ghaghra village for the Patalgadi ceremony where the scuffle broke out between them.
