JAMMU, NOVEMBER 16: Secretary, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today reviewed the progress and performance of Projects Implementing Agencies Under “Himayat Scheme’’, here at a meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that Himayat is a Skill Development cum placement programme for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir especially school and college drop outs. The focus is on placement of youth in a befitting manner commensurate with the level of education and aspiration of youth.
The meeting was attended by Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kapil Sharma and the representatives of the Project Implementing Agencies.
A threadbare discussion was held to redress the issues pertaining to the training of the candidates enrolled in these PIAs.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 10932 persons have completed trainings and more than 1900 have been placed who are working in different companies and organisations for more than three months. The concerned officers also briefed that 63 training centres are active in Jammu and Kashmir. It was further informed that 48 projects with the target of training 74324 persons have been sanctioned of which 33 projects are operational.
The Secretary directed the concerned officers to speed up the training of the youth enrolled by various Project implementing Agencies (PIAs) under Himayat Programme. She stated that it is a noble cause and would be taken as a mission and would not be perceived from the business point of view as it deals with the future of the youth.
She emphasized on organizing mobilization programme, Job Melas in different districts of the Jammu and Kashmir so that the youth could benefit from the scheme. She further instructed the PIAs to organise counselling sessions with parents of the candidates. She also instructed them to organise multiple camps for Panchs and Sarpancs.
