Semifinals line up has been drawn in the under-17 boys Basketball event of the ongoing inter-school competitions of district Jammu in multi disciplines of Handball, Softball, Rugby and Wushu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today. Teams reaching the Basketball semifinals are MHAC Nagbani, Sainik School Nagrota, Army Public School (APS) Ratnuchak and JK Public School (JKPS).
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, decided today, MHAC Nagbani defeated GD Goenka School 32-14 while Sainik School Nagrota outplayed APS Kaluchak 13-12. Similarly, in other last eight stages matches, APS Ratnuchak thrashed Banyan International School 43-03 and JKPS trounced Government High School City Chowk 23-17. Meanwhile, in under-14 Basketball event, Model Academy, JKPS and Heritage School won their respective matches. The Results: Model Academy bt Jodhamal Public School 4-2; JK Public School bt G D Goenka 6-2; Heritage Public School bt APS Ratnuchak. District officer (DYSS) Jammu, Chanchal Kour interacted with the teams and encouraged the boys.

Under-48 kg: Vinod Paul of SRML School, ist and Sujjal Gupta, 2nd. Under-52 kg: Mayank Basi of SRML School, Ist and Goutam Sharma of SMJ, 2nd. Under-56 kg: Priyanshu Chib of BSK, Ist and Sumit Kumar of Bright Future, 2nd. Under-60 kg: Andeep Singh of SRML, Ist and Abhinandan Sharma of MHAC School Nagbani, 2nd. 65 kg: Manish Sharma of GD Goenka, Ist and Anurag Sharma of SRML School, 2nd Under-70 kg: Aditya Kargotra of St. Peter’s School Akhnoor, Ist and Aman Bargotra of DPS Jammu, 2nd. 75 kg: Udhey Seth of Government Mixed HS School, Ist. Under-80 kg: Mukesh of MS Patta Bohri, Ist and Azhar Ali, 2nd. Under-85 kg: Anish Sharma of Bright Future, Ist and Vassu Dev, 2nd.
HANDBALL: Under-17: GHS City chowk beat Heritage Public School 2-0. Under-14: APS Kalu Chak beat Heritage Public School.
SOFTBALL: Under-17: GHSS Jhiri defeated DBN 6-5 in the final. Semifinals: DBN bt HSS Bhour Camp 6-4; GHSS Jhiri bt MRLD 2-0. Under-14: GHSS Jhiri beat BSK Domana 7-4.
