Seven day workshop on ‘Curriculum reforms’ sponsored by RUSA was inaugurated today at Department of Botany, University of Jammu in the august presence of Dr. S.K. Barik, Director, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, Dr. J.L. Karihaloo, Co-ordinator APCOAB, Dr. A.K.Koul, Retd. Professor, Department of Botany, University of Jammu and Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. Prof. Namrata Sharma, Head, Department of Botany welcomed the dignitaries and experts and enlightened the participants about the objectives and expected outcome of the workshop. Prof. Geeta Sumbali, (Former Dean, Life Sciences) emphasized on updating the curriculum to make students more knowledgeable and skillful. A week long workshop will be benefited from the expert suggestions of leading plant scientists of the country including Dr. J.L.Karihaloo, Dr. S.K. Barik, Dr. K.R.Shivanna, Prof. Amrik Singh, Prof. Rajesh Tandon, Dr. T.N. Lakhanpal and Dr. D.K.Upreti. The entire faculty of the department of Botany shall be exchanging ideas with the invited experts for improving the syllabi of the M.Sc. (Botany) in terms of scientific advancements at the world level and also for skill based training of the students. The inaugural of the workshop was also graced by the presence of Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Prof. Veenu Kaul, Dr. Sikander P. Choudhary, Dr. Harish Chander Dutt, Dr. Geeta and Dr. Skarma Nonzom.
