Shaheed Kalyan Samiti, Mishriwala today paid floral tributes to martyrs of security forces and honoured at least 44 families of martyrs of Jammu district, in an impressive function organized at Sai Palace, Akhnoor Road, here.
Recipient of Paramveer Chakra-highest gallantry award of Indian Army-Captain Bana Singh, SP, Rural, Dushyant Sharma, SDM, North, Satish Sharma, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal and social worker Baba Chanchal Singh were special guests on the occasion, who honoured the families of martyrs.
After paying floral tributes to martyrs who sacrificed their lives while serving in Indian Army, J&K Police and various para-military forces, the students of Baal Vidayala Secondary School and V S K High School, Mishriwala, presented colourful cultural items and patriotic songs that earned huge applause from large gathering including elderly, youth and women.
While addressing the gathering, Captain Bana Singh (PVC) and Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that it is imperative to remember our heroes especially the martyrs who have laid down their lives for safeguarding the nation as it imbibes a sense of patriotism and linkage to ones country. They said that it is very essential that we should be regularly remembering our martyrs who have without caring for their precious lives rendered the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of the nation. They said that patriotism and love towards ones country is the most sacred feeling and now the onus lies on us to ensure that it is properly propagated among the younger generation and the posterity.
While asking for holding these types of functions on a regular basis, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SDM, North, Satish Sharma said that these types of functions are necessary to create awareness among the people. They said that the people should also come forward and also honour the martyrs by actively interacting with the families of these and also take necessary steps for their rehabilitation in the different spheres of life.
Noted Social worker, Baba Chanchal Singh, while paying tributes to Martyrs said that the sacrifice rendered by the young soldiers would be recorded in the annals of history as commendable. He said that the martyrs have set an example for the youth to hold the interest of country as supreme and contribute their bit in making India as one of the leading countries of the globe. Among others who spoke on the occasion included ZEO Gurdev Singh, Retd. Insp. Balwant Singh, Ashok Verma, Advocate Ram Mohammad, Sarpanch Dalvir Singh, Ex Sarpanch Kuldeep Singh, Swarn Singh, Vikram Chib Rishu and J P Singh.
