Former Minister and BJP leader today welcomed the move regarding delimitation of constituencies of the state which was a long pending demand of various political parties.
Emphasising on the urgency to initiate the delimitation process, Sharma said that geographical area, topography, number of voters, nature of terrain, inaccessibility and poor communication facilities were the factors which weigh heavily in favour of the Jammu region and entitle it to a higher number of assembly constituencies.
“Abdullahs and Muftis want that they should always remain in power and thus invoke Article 370 and other political matters selectively. Farooq Abdullah, during his government, arbitrarily banned delimitation in the state till 2026, which was unconstitutional,” said Sharma.
While addressing monthly meeting of BJP workers Sham said that the delimitation will stop the monopoly of the Kashmir centric leaders who are opposing this move and will go along way to stop discrimination of Jammu and Ladakh region. He further said that consequent upon the delimitation,the power centre which has always been with Kashmir centric leaders will be shifted to the region which holds the majority.
Sham said that whenever the issue of equal distribution of resources amongst three regions taken up,the Kashmir centric leaders don’t take it in a right spirit rather they gave communal colour to such issue.On the other hand the BJP believes in “Sabka Saath,Sabka Vikas Aur Sabka Vishwas’.
Speaking on the Sham said that the Schedule Tribe’s which consists of Gujjar/Bakerwals are from backward areas and also are down trodden. As such they should be given political reservations in the state assembly,as the same has already been granted to this sect in other state of the country.
The community have been agitating to get political reservation for 28 years.
The ST status was granted to a number of tribes of J&K in 1991 when the state was under President’s rule,Since 1991, STs have been demanding political reservation, but ruling elites have ignored their genuine demand to maintain their dominance over J&K’s politics.”
He further said that the ST’s of the state should be given reservations in the state assembly at par with SC community,as this community is fighting since decades for the said political reservation which I feel that the same is their genuine demand.
Sham Sharma today strongly favored for reverting the term of State Assembly to five years instead of six years to maintain a uniform system in entire country.He said NC leadership manipulated Indian Constitution by convenience and implemented all those amendments which suited it.. He accused the Kashmiri leadership of developing a vested interest in continuance of turmoil in the Valley as they get elected to Assembly and Parliament by 10 percent votes. He said the dynastic rule will end in the State after the people of Valley vote en masse, defeat the dynastic parties and strengthen the democracy in the State.
