Shankaracharya of Uttar Peeth (Astrology) Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj reached Jammu on a two-day visit on Monday, during which in the evening he along with his 100 Sadhus reached the Darvar of Mata Bawe Wali and took the blessings of Mata. On his arrival in Jammu, Congress Executive Chairman and former Minister Raman Bhalla welcomed him. As per press note, on Tuesday after 2 pm, Shankaracharya ji will give darshan to the devotees at the residence of Raman Bhalla ji and will enthrall the devotees with his sermons. Raman Bhalla has appealed to the followers to come for the darshan of Shank aracharya on Tuesday to seek his blessings. Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is always active to protect Ganga and cows. When temples were demolished in Varanasi for the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, he protested against it. He fasted for a long time in 2008 to declare Ganga as the national river.
When his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital. He ended his fast on the instructions of his guru. With his inspiration, he studied till Acharya in the subject of Naval grammar in Sampurnanand Sanskrit University of Kashi. During this period, students also remained active in politics. Sampurnanand was elected to the post of General Secretary of the Students Union in Sanskrit University.
On April 15, 2003, Uma shankar was given initiation into Danda Sannyasa and was given the name Swami Avimukteshwar ananda Saraswati. He holds the entire command of Srividyamath located at Kedarghat.
