President of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma encouraged and felicitated a young gold medalist wrestler, Ashok Singh of far off place Ser Sundwan in district Reasi.
Young wrestler, who has already presented the district and has been part of the Khelo India contingent, was spotted by Shiv Kumar during a lecture on ‘sports and its benefits’ at Government High School Ser Sundwan, recently.
“As briefed by the school’s sports teacher and Headmaster, 10th standard Ashok has exceptional wrestling abilities and can be groomed into a medal winner at the National level,” Shiv Kumar Sharma told SAN.
Former Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), Shiv Kumar while felicitating Ashok Singh presented him Rs 1000 assistance so as to encourage him in his future endeavours.
Speaking to the gathering of school administration and those students, Shiv Kumar also delivered lecture on moral values and made young boys and girls aware of prospects of being a sportsperson.
Earlier, Headmaster of the school, Dhani Ram presented welcome address.
The programme mainly focused on the sports activities and scope in the society. Other students of the entire school were also given refreshment by Shiv Kumar, who is also a social activist.
Latr, Headmaster admired the efforts on part of the Shiv Kumar Sharma in encouraging the youth towards sports and social activities.
Retired lecturer, Mubarik Singh also attended the programme.
