jammu, Oct 24:
Shiv Sena Bal Sahib Thackrey, J&K unit on Wednesday reiterated its demand for dissolution of the Legislative Assembly terming it was illegal to keep the Legislative Assembly under prolonged suspension. Addressing a press conference here, State President Dimpy Kohli said “Over a month has passed since the fall of the BJP-PDP government and imposition of governor’s rule in the state but keeping the Assembly in suspended animation is against the mandate of the Constitution and existing precedents.”
“The prolonged suspension of the State Assembly is illegal which defied all the precedents, constitutional provisions and plethora of judgments passed by the courts in the past,” he said.
Kohli accused the BJP of holding the constitution hostage through proxy for its unethical political interests.
Kohli said that members of suspended Assembly are not entitled to exercise powers and privileges which are available in case of regular Assembly and hence can’t exercise financial powers to release the CDF grants.
Kohli said no political party or combination of parties have staked claim to form the government in the State.
“None of the political parties were able to form the government and in such a scenario keeping the Assembly in suspended animation only desecrates the sanctity of democratic institutions,” Kohli said.
Kohli appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to dissolve the Assembly immediate and announce notification of fresh Assembly elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
