JAMMU, Nov 06:
Top ranked sport climber of India, Shivani Charak of Jammu and Kashmir, after completing her month long training at Bhuvneshwar, left for Indonesia to participate in the Asian Championship being held at Bogor, West Java in Indonesia.
Shivani is among the four Indian boys and three women selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) on the basis of their current national rankings, to represent the country in the continental competition. Shivani has been selected to compete in all the three forms of sport climbing i.e Lead, Speed Climbing and Bouldering.
“Shivani has a busy schedule ahead as just after competing in the Asian Championship at Indonesia she shall proceed to China for an International sport climbing competition at Ningbo. As the Indian team for the competitions at Indonesia and China has been cleared by IMF and Shivani has been sponsored for both the international competitions by a Pune based company,” informed general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria. Shivani will return to India from China on November 18. She shall be attending selection camp for the Asian Youth Championship to be held from November 20 onwards at Bangalore.
After competing in the Asian Youth Competition she will again go back to China for another international competition for which she has been sponsored by the Government of China.
Meanwhile, members of Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) led by Ram Khajuria, Khurshid Ahmad and Yogeshwar Kumar (vice presidents); patrons of Tawi Trekkers, Ashwani Sharma, former MLA and Rahul Sharma, Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School; Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal; Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary; Vivek Chauhan, Principal Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Sumit Khajuria, an adventure sports promoter and Abhimanyu Sherpa joint secretary Tawi Trekkers J&K have wished Shivani all the best for her competitions in Indonesia and China.
