Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has welcomed the Honorable Supreme Court decision to dismiss the review petitions filed on Article 370 and has demanded special privileges for its cultural identity and reservation in jobs and education for locals under Article 371.
In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that after the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, it should be assumed that Article 370 has become history. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is a border state and for the last three and a half decades we have been facing the brunt of terrorism. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to special privileges. He demands that on the lines of other northeastern states of the country, people of Jammu and Kashmir should be given the privilege of the protection of its cultural identity and first right on Govt jobs , admission in educational institutions under Article 371. Sahni said that he has appealed to those who are chanting the tune of 370 to not waste time and raise their voices in unity for the restoration of the rights of the local people under Section 371. Sahni has announced to go on a padayatra immediately after the results of the Lok Sabha elections to make the public aware of his demands and to get their consent. On this occasion, Vice President Balwant Singh, President Kamgar Wing Raj Singh, Secretary Rakesh Handa were present.
