Bollywood’s ‘item songs’ often get mixed reactions. While some artists are proud of their work, Shreya Ghoshal feels differently. She recently said she feels embarrassed about the raunchy song “Chikni Chameli” from Agneepath (2012), which features Katrina Kaif. In an interview, she talked about her discomfort with that part of the music industry. Shreya explained that she has a few songs that might be seen as borderline raunchy, like “Chikni Chameli.” She pointed out that there’s a fine line between being sexy and being objectified. “I have a handful of songs which could be borderline raunchy, like Chikni Chameli. There is very fine line between being sexual and sexy or being out there just making yourself objectified. Why I am a little conscious about this now over time is because I see young little girls singing this song,” she said.Shreya further added, “Films and music have a very huge impact on people, it’s a big part of our lives. Any big blockbuster film or song becomes a part of history and I don’t want to become a part of that kind of history.”
