Sikh bodies condemn the desecration of Gurudwara Pathar Sahib at Leh. While addressing a press conference S. Sudershan Singh Wazir , Chairman Sikh United Front (J&K) , along with other Sikh organizations said that advertently or inadvertently somebody has put up some mantras including some murals on the walls of the Gurudwara which is totally under the control of the defense forces and such kind of graffiti is forbidden in the religious places of Sikhs. We convey our displeasure about this attempt and call upon the state government and the chief of Northern Command Lt. General Ranbir Singh to undo what has been done at the earliest, he added.
Mr. Wazir further said that we have already talked to Sh. Dilbagh Singh , DGP J&K and also other concerned authorities about this act of desecration. Mr. Dilbagh Singh has assured us that all this will be rectified and we have complete faith on the DGP as he is a highly regarded and competent officer. However, in case the issue is not resolved then the Sikhs will be left with no alternative but to come on streets and lodge a strong protest.
Mr. Wazir further said that Sikhism exhorts Sikhs to respect all religion and we always follow this command but at the same time we expect other faiths also to recognize the uniqueness of Sikhism and respect its faith. Mr. Wazir made a specific request to Chief of Northern Command Lt. General Ranbir Singh to personally intervene in the matter and resolve it sooner than later.
