Sardar Tarlochan Singh Wazir, Chairman, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board along with District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar, Sikh Students Federation and Presidents of different Gurdwaras held a Press Conference in the light of Delhi High Court judgment, convicting Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and others in 1984 anti Sikh Carnage. While welcoming the indictment of Sajjan Kumar and others in the case, Mr T S Wazir termed the verdict as too little too late. Elaborating further Mr Wazir described the indictment of a top Congress leader as a welcome step as it has vindicated our stand of direct involvement of then Congress Government in the genocide of thousands of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other parts of country, where free hand was given to rioters for three days and expressed disappointment on the quantum of punishment as nothing less than capital punishment is acceptable to Sikh community.
He stated that after 34 years only one big fish has been caught and many other big fishes are still roaming free and demanded fast trial of each and every culprit including police and other government officials involved as it was a state sponsored act of terror in which complete state machinery was used, so that perpetrators of such a heinous crime are brought to Justice.
He further stated that there is a strong resentment among Sikh masses on Kamal Nath being made Chief Minister of Madhya Pardesh who is also one of the accused of genocide, while terming it as rubbing salt on the wounds of Sikhs, demanded his immediate removal. He also called upon all the parties supporting Congress Government in MP to demand immediate removal of Kamal Nath, otherwise their double standard would be exposed as they have come together on the pretext of fighting communal forces.
