Ranveer Singh’s Simmba is quite literally roaring at the box office. All early speculations had indicated that the Rohit Shetty film would score big at the box office but figures have only proved Ranveer’s status as a bankable star.
Keeping the momentum going, Simmba’s domestic collections after five days stood at Rs 124.54 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Wednesday and wrote: “#Simmba starts 2019 with a big bang… Runs riot at the BO on Day 5 [1 Jan 2019]… Is truly UNSTOPPABLE… Ranveer’s fourth film to cross Rs 100 cr mark… Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr, Mon 21.24 cr, Tue 28.19 cr. Total: Rs 124.54 cr. India biz.”Not just in the domestic markets, the film has fared rather well in the international market as well. “#Simmba is super-strong in international markets… 4-day Overseas total is close to 40 cr… Day 1: $ 1.884 mn Day 2: $ 1.590 mn Day 3: $ 1.492 mn Day 4: $ 779k Total: $ 5.745 mn [ 39.85 cr],” Adarsh had tweeted on Tuesday.After Golmaal Again in 2017, director Rohit Shetty has hit the bull’s eye again with Simmba, a remake of Telugu super hit Temper.In Simmba, Ranveer plays a corrupt cop who has a change of heart after a woman he knows is raped. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan (this being her second film after Kedarnath) and Sonu Sood, who appears as the antagonist. The New Year slot has contributed to the film’s fortunes as the next big releases, Uri and The Accidental Prime Minister, will open on January 11, 2019.
