HYDERABAD, DEC 04,
World and Olympics silver medallist, P.V. Sindhu said that there was no pressure of expectation as she targets an elusive title this year when she plays in what will be her third BWF World Tour finals in China next week.
“I have to prepare for it like for any other event. In terms of stature it is a major event as only the top eight will be competing,” said Sindhu on the sidelines of Hyderabad Hunters’ promotional event here on Monday. Sindhu is defending champion Hunters’ icon player in this year’s Premier Badminton League starting from December 22 in Mumbai.
“There is very little difference amongst the players ranked in the top 15. It all boils down to how well you respond to the situation on the given day,” the 23-year-old said.
Right strategy
On World No. 1 Tai Tzu, Sindhu said, “she is a very strong player with plenty of deceptive strokes.
“But if you have the right strategy and are able to execute it, you can still beat her.
The preparations have been really good this time and I am looking forward to the Finals.
“In my first appearance in the Finals, I reached the semifinals, and in the second the final. Hopefully this time I will win the title,” she said.
“I believe 2018 has been a very good year with a couple of appearances in finals. It has been a very demanding schedule. We have to pick and play events and not just compete in every event. Great we coped with it without any injury, thanks to the support staff,” Sindhu said.
