Six Budgam residents booked for glorifying terrorism on social media: Police

Police on Friday said that six persons have been booked for glorifying terrorism on social media in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement, a police spokesman said they have taken firm action to prevent the misuse of social media platforms in Budgam.
“Six individuals have been booked for creating fake accounts and sharing content glorifying terrorism that could potentially disturb public peace and incite disruptive activities,” he said.
The spokesman said those booked have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Dar, resident of Sholipora, Owais Ahmad Khan resident of Soibugh Daharmuna, Suhail Ahmad Sheikh resident of Batpora, Umar Shafi Sofi resident of Ompora, Mohammad Amir Khan resident of Ichkoot and Shahid Mir resident of Sheikhpora Chatterhama, Budgam.
The police spokesman further stated that these individuals were found using fake social media accounts to propagate misleading and unlawful content. Legal action has been initiated against them as per the preventive detention laws.
J&K Police strongly urges all social media users to act responsibly and refrain from posting or sharing illegal, misleading, or disruptive content. Strict legal action under relevant sections of law will be taken against anyone found violating social media guidelines, added the spokesman.
