SKUAST-Jammu hosts Live Music Entertainment Programme

A unique live music entertainment programme was today organized under Horizon Series by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Jammu with the artists of J&K in collaboration with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
A blend and style of flute music and Tabla was presented by Rakesh Anand and Neeraj Verma, leaving the audience mesmerised and filling the atmosphere with tranquility through the medium of music.A flawless Dogri folk performance by Jammu-based artists, Surinder Singh Manhas, Garu Ram, Darbari Lal, Rohit and Chandan Jasotra left the crowd awestruck.Professor J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu- the chief guest, stressed on the importance of developing and nurturing India’s rich cultural heritage passed by our ancestors.
He added that such programmes help in stress management particularly during corona pandemic when people are locked in homes.Earlier, N.K Shill, Regional Director, ICCR, Jammu gave a brief introduction about various activities of ICCR.
The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp.Students of Sewa Bharti, Jammu gave performance on ill effects of plastic and its management.All the statutory officers of the University, Heads of the Divisions, faculty members and students attended the concert maintaining social distancing norms.At the outset, Dr. Akhil Gupta welcomed the guests and audience. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Rajesh Katoch.
