Ms. Meenu Sharma, research scholar at the School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra has been awarded Fems Meeting Grant for Early Young Scientists Award, and the candidate has also been awarded with a case prize of Euro 220 as reported. The researcher presented her work in FEMS Meeting on ‘The non-Conventional Yeasts: Basic Research to Application in theDepartment of Biotechnology and Microbiology, Faculty of Biology and Agriculture, University of Rzeszow, Poland, supported by the International Commission on Yeast. Further, Ms. Meenu’s research was accepted for the presentation in the session: Sensing, Signaling, Stress Response and Membrane Transport.The candidate has been working under the supervision of Dr. Narendra K. Bairwa and Prof. V. Verma, SMVDU,. Also, Dr. Bairwa informed that the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) is a not-for profit association of European materials societies that promotes excellence and equality in science, and in channeling high quality knowledge for solving today’s societal problems. Theassociations cover science and engineering in various fields including metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, glasses, nano and biomaterials. The research candidate had an enriching experience, and she is looking forward for such academic endeavours in near future.
