Ms. Vibha Mahajan, a researcher of School of Business at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra participated in a two-week long workshop at Guangzhou, China. Notably, Ms. Mahajan was the only Indian flag-bearer, besides other 13 internationally selected participants, who interacted with industry experts and civil society regarding policy developments in China. This workshop, sponsored by UNCTAD and MOST, China, was an enriching experience for the candidate as issues, including policy making, experiences in developing sciences, and technology & innovation for sustainable development wrt agriculture, public health and environmental protection were discussed extensively, as reported Dr. Jyoti Sharma, the candidate’s PhD supervisor. During the workshop, the participants made field visits to Guangdong cities of Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and Guangzhou where they learned how to deal with urban waste and maintain sustainable development with the help of technology, innovation and industrial incubation. Ms. Mahajan also got a chance to showcase her research on India’s STI policies for sustainable development to the foreign delegates from Iran, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Thailand and others. The researcher was felicitated with a certificate on the completion of the workshop. Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor (SMVDU), congratulated the researcher and wished her a success in her future endeavours.
