A week ago, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Sharmin Segal debuted on Netflix. The show has been in talk ever since its release, not only because of its star cast but also the story behind each character, which makes it more exciting for the audience. One scene in the show captured the eye of the audience, wherein Sonakshi Sinha’s character Fareedan is seen engaging in a foreplay with one of her maids. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, she mentioned “Initially, sir (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) had told me that Fareedan is very fluid,” hinting that her character is gender-fluid alongside her character’s sexual preferences.“What Fareedan has been through in her life also has impacted her in a way,” said Sonakshi. She also suggested that the reason behind her character’s sexuality may also be because she was sold off at a very young age. “Maybe that’s why she hates men.” She continued by saying that her character has been left very open, which can also be seen in the show.“Rekha ma’am went gaga over Heeramandi and was so supportive and encouraging,” Sonakshi added while talking about how the veteran actress was impressed and praised her role in the show. “She always tells my mum that she’s my ‘other mumma’. There’s a lot of love between us,” the actress concluded. Sonakshi was recently seen in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan as Captain Priya Dixit and would soon be seen in Aditiya Sarpotdar’s Kakuda alongside Ritesh Deshmukh.
