JAMMU, Jun 22: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) on Saturday expressed serious concern over delaying elections for Govt and non Govt organizations besides Clubs and Sabhas after completion of their tenure. In a press statement issued here, Shri Ram Sena J&K State President Rajiv Mahajan today appealed to the Governor Administration to immediately dissolve the organizations, Clubs and Sabhas, whose tenure is over and by giving a grace time of one month, fresh elections should be held.
He also demanded that till the fresh elections are held there should also be code of conduct in working of these organizations as after the completion of tenure, continue with same team is unconstitutional and also unjustified.
Mahajan claimed that after completion of tenure, decisions taken by both Govt and non govt organizations, Clubs and Sabhas should be treated as null and void and also when there is no law and order problem or any other problem to conduct these elections, halting these elections is injustice with those who wait for elections to prove their point with innovative ideas besides it is also against the constitution of country. If elections are to be postponed, then the body/organisation performing the elections should develop a communications strategy so that the reasoning behind the decision to postpone the elections is effectively conveyed to the electorate. By being transparent, the legitimacy of the decision to postpone elections will be more widely accepted, he added.
“Continuing grabbing the seats in Govt and non Govt organizations besides Clubs and Sabhas by some members exposes their vested interest to fulfill their desires,” he said.
He appealed to Governor to check the details of all the activities of the present members of all the Govt and non Govt organizations besides Clubs and Sabhas and keep them under the control of Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Srinagar.
Mahajan citing the example said that continuation of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries team of office bearers working, beyond the term of two years is illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic and demanded holding of elections of the Jammu Chamber without any delay. He strongly demanded the present JCCI team to hold elections without any delay as per spirit of the Chamber Constitution, if they fail to do so at the earliest, Governor Administration should immediately intervene to restore faith of business community in Jammu. Mahajan also raised serious question mark on working of present JCCI team under its President saying that there is provision in the constitution to create Presidium of members for resolving any issue/ objection by the members, but present head of JCCI did not bother to set up the same.
