JAMMU, March 01:
The J&K SRTC XI, Jammu United and Churchill Brothers excelled in the close contests to move into the next round of the ongoing 25th State Football Championship, organized by J&K Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the opening match of the day, Jammu United trounced Sainik Colony Football Club 6-5 via tie-breaker after the well contested game ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time.
The second match won by SRTC XI, who defeated District Football Association (DFA) Ganderbal by a solitary goal that came in the last minutes of the match. Rayees netted the all important goal.
In another scheduled match, Churchill Brothers beat DFA Baramulla 4-2 via tie-breaker.
Earlier, the match ended in a goalless draw in the given time.
The DFA Anantnag clinched the thriller against fighting DFA Udhampur beating latter 2-0. Both Anantnag goals came in the last five minutes of the game.
The fight between arch rivals of Vijay Club and Young Hero’s could not be completed and game was stopped after teams appealed for bad light. The game remained tense throughout thereby wasted a lot of time in the arguments. Both the teams have been tied at 1-1 with Young Hero’s netted the first goal and Vijay Club bringing in the equalizer.
Meanwhile, as per an official handout issued here, the remaining 10 minutes game shall be played tomorrow to decide the fate of the game.
