JAMMU, FEB 15:
Smiles and embosoms were plenteous as St. Mary’s Infant Convent School (formerly St. Mary’s Infant Pre School), ushered in an altogether unwonted standpoint to the celebration of love by solemnizing Valentine’s Day as Grandparents’ Day. The eccentric way of celebrating adulation enlivened the adored grandparents and further bolstered the bond that they have with their grandchildren.
The sight of the grandparents entering the school premises lit up the eyes of the students and the exuberant lilliputians welcomed the worthy grandparents by holding their hands endearingly and escorting them towards the bedecked venue. The festivities commenced with the gracious hands of the grandparents of the school presidium lighting the ceremonial lamp along with special vedettes Mr. Rajesh Bakshi, Member, Cantonment Board, Jammu Cantt and Mrs. Anna Mary, Chairperson of the school.
Tiny tots took the opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude towards their beloved grandparents for their unconditional love with special performances including skits, dance and ballets especially choreographed for the day. Melodious songs sung in the adoration of the venerated grandparents touched the hearts of one and all. The jouissance multiplied manifolds when the grandparents joined the little ones in their gyrates and games like passing of the parcel and tambola.
The emotive imagery of coming together of young and old to celebrate the beauteous bond was truly a sight to behold. After a fun-filled gala time, grandparents sprightly shared anecdotes about their school days, much to the delight of the students, which was followed by the rightful felicitation of the grandparents by the Chairperson of the school, Mrs. Anna Mary.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Anna Mary said that nobody can do for children what grandparents do, they sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children and there is no love greater than the love of grandparents. She reiterated the imperative role of grandparents in the life of children and lauded them for imparting invaluable knowledge to the students.
Principal of the school, Mrs. Sheetal Anthony, in her address stated that Valentine’s Day was being celebrated as Grandparents day with a view to honour the countless contributions and sacrifices that grandparents make throughout their lives and to foster the special bond that exists between grandparents and their grandchildren.
The head boy of the school, Adrian Raj Anthony, presented the formal vote of thanks. Confabs coupled with savouring of refreshments and sipping of tea, concluded the programme on a cheerful note and beaming grandparents departed from the venue with an overabundant treasure of memories to cherish forever.
