St. Xavier students return from Dharamshalla

JAMMU, June 08:
A group of Tawi Trekkers J&K, comprising 47 students (including 20 girls) of St. Xavier Convent Senior Secondary School, Barnai, here returned today after an exhilarating experience of trekking in the majestic Dhauladhar Range.
The group was flagged off on June four by Principal of the School, Pankaj Padha for participation in the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme. Whereas Sonam Sidharth, joint secretary of Tawi Trekkers was leader of the group,four teachers of the school Susan Danish, Vanessa Jenny, Prakriti Sharma and Sukanshi Sharma also accompanied the group. Souravdeep Singh and Suksham, both experienced trekkers, were the deputy leaders.
During the four-day venture, the young students with their base camp at Chamunda trekked through Macleodganj, the Seat of HH Dalai Lama; the beautiful Bhagshunag. Dharamkot, popularly called mini Israel, the elegant Dharamshala stadium and Dal Lake. However, the major attraction for the participants was their visit to the sprawling tea gardens and a tea factory where they learnt the complete process of manufacturing of tea.
The next group of trekkers of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School shall leave for haramshala tomorrow.
