Staff members win Tug of War tie in ASCOMS meet

JAMMU, Dec 05:
Female staff members beat girl students in the opening Tug of War game in the
four-day annual Sports, Academic and Cultural meet of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) at the college campus, here today.
Earlier, the mega event declared open jointly by Joint Secretary, DK Batra, Director Principal, Dr Pavan Malhotra in presence of faculty members, staff and students.
In 100 mtrs event of athletics, Dr. Chandpreet Kour of ENT Department bagged first place while Dr Depinder Kour of Microbiology stood second and Dr. Shalini Sobti of Department of Community Medicine finished third.
In the meantime, a friendly cricket match, staff members made it a huge 185 runs win against students. Batting first, staff XI set a challenging total of 228 runs. Dr Amit Suri made highest 58 runs while Dr Gurpreet Singh scored 43 runs and Dr. Rajesh Gupta added 42 runs. Dr. Ravinder Gupta was other main scorer with 35 runs in his account. In reply, students bowled out for a meagre 43 runs. From winning side, Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dr Ajay Puri, Dr. Amit Suri, Dr. Ravinder Gupta and Dr. Jatanbir shared two wickets each. Later, Dr. Amit Suri adjudged as man of the match for his all round performance. Meanwhile, during the course of the meet, various cultural, sports and academic events shall be organised including a friendly match between two medical colleges of Jammu scheduled for tomorrow.
