JAMMU, Sept 06:
Four member sport climbing team of Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK), comprising Shivani Charak, Mrityunjay Sharma, Ajay Deep Singh and Arun Deep Singh, today left for Sikkim from Delhi for participation in the IMF All India Sport Climbing (Speed and Lead ) competition scheduled to be held at Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism, Chemchey, Sikkim.
Shivani Charak, an international climber is the coach cum manager of the team. The team had reached Delhi on August 28 to have strenuous work outs at international standard climbing walls in the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) Complex.
“While Ajay Deep Singh, the current top ranked climber of the country in the Boys category shall try to maintain his top position, Shivani Charak who recently slipped to 2nd rank in the Women category is determined to regain the top spot. Arun Deep who has put in lot of hard work for this competition is expected to improve his 3rd rank in the country in the Boys category. The fourth climber Mrityunjay Sharma is also hopeful of a better performance in this competition,” disclosed general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria.
The state team has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC).
